Rate Adjustment
In April 2024, the Board of Directors introduced a sewer rate adjustment over the next three years, starting in July 2024.
The rate adjustment in sewer rates will allow SacSewer to cover the cost associated with the following:
- Critical repairs and maintenance for SacSewer’s aging infrastructure and facilities*
- Increased costs for materials required for sewage treatment, some of which have increased 300% in recent years
- Inflationary adjustments for operations, labor, energy, and construction expenditures
*For SacSewer sewage collection customers only
Residential Impact Fees
SacSewer charges sewer impact fees to any business customer connecting to the sewer system for the first time.

To buy into the treatment system, builders, developers, and industries pay impact fees to connect. The amount of fees required depends on a number of factors, including the location of the parcel, the use of the parcel, and the characteristics of the sewage being discharged. There are also various programs or options available that can affect when and how payments are made for fees. View the Sewage Treatment Ordinance.
