Mike Huot

Mike Huot was appointed Director of Policy and Planning in January 2022. In this role, he is responsible for long-range planning, regulatory and legislative affairs, wastewater source control, and scientific research for both the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San) and the Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer).

Huot has more than 20 years of experience working in the water and wastewater industry. Prior to joining the executive team, he served as Principal Engineer for the Sacramento County Water Agency, Assistant General Manager for the Sacramento Suburban Water District, and in various leadership roles at Regional San and SacSewer.

Huot has extensive leadership experience overseeing a wide variety of water and wastewater initiatives and programs. He has led rate and fee studies, created strategic business plans, chaired project-based and technical committees, designed Master Agreement updates, coordinated legal defense cases regarding underground contaminants, reviewed scientific studies, and developed service levels and organizational performance measures.

Huot holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and is a registered professional engineer in the State of California.
