Regional San to Re-Open Recycled Water Fill Station for 2016

Elk Grove, CA – On May 10, 2016, Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San) will re-open its Recycled Water Fill Station for the 2016 season. The fill station, located at the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in Elk Grove, offers residential and commercial users free, environmentally responsible, and safe recycled water to irrigate lawns, gardens, and landscaping, or for dust control or other permitted uses.

The Recycled Water Fill Station has several connection bays for cars, trucks, and commercial water tankers to fill approved containers. Participants must complete an application and a brief training session before filling up. In addition, participants must live and use the recycled water in the Regional San service area.

Recycled water is expected to be available through the dry season—typically May through October. “Although there have been recent rains, statewide drought is still a serious issue, and conservation of limited water supplies is as important as ever,” said Jose Ramirez, Regional San’s water recycling program manager. “Our recycled water fill station is just one component of our sustainable water recycling program, which aims to reduce the region’s dependence on precious groundwater and surface water,” said Ramirez.

Fill station location and days and hours of operation are available at www.regionalsan.com/recycled-water-fill-station or by calling (916) 876-FILL. Learn more about Regional San’s other sustainable water recycling projects at www.regionalsan.com/water-recycling.
