SacSewer and RHA Win Environmental Recognition
The Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) and Rental Housing Association (RHA) were winners at the Sacramento Environmental Commission’s 14th Annual Environmental Recognition Awards Program, receiving a honorable mention in the category of “Achievement of a Successful Environmental Education/Outreach Program.”
RHA has partnered with SacSewer to educate its members and tenants about sewer problems related to fats, oils, and grease (FOG). Proper FOG disposal is important to help reduce sewer overflows that are costly and environmentally hazardous.
Receiving the award were Julia Freeland, RHA Deputy
Director of Member Services; Jan Holm, SacSewer FOG Program
Manager; Jim Lofgren, RHA Executive Director; and Marjorie Namba,
Environmental Commission Chair (presenter).
